Apple held its annual autumn event at 10 am on 15 September 2020 with its new products and services. Surprisingly, there is no iPhone 12 in this event, but the new Apple Watch and iPad still have some new dazzling features. Now let’s take a look on what new features has come up with new Apple Watch and iPad.
Apple Watch Series 6
The first product on Apple Event is the Apple Watch Series 6. It doesn’t have significant changes in the design but adds a bunch of new features inside. Apple Watch Series 6 adds new blood oxygen sensor to track your blood oxygen level through 4 LED clusters and photodiodes, which is quite useful for the COVID-19 test. The enhanced Always-on Retina display is 2.5 times brighter for better outdoor visibility. The Series 6 is also powered by a new S6 chip, which Apple says is based on the A13 Bionic from iPhone 11, and can be 20% faster than the Series 5. Apple Watch Series 6 adds new colors and bands including new seamless band Solo Loop that is more lightweight and easy to slip on and off. The Apple Watch Series 6 starts at $399 and is available now to purchase.
Apple Watch SE
Apple Watch SE starts at $279 which is much cheaper than the Series 6. It has many features as in the Series 6, including fall detection, always-on altimeter and built-in accelerometer, but it is powered by the duel-core S5 chip which was used in Series 5. Watch SE has the same large Retina display as Series 6 so you can see more at a glance. Apple announced new Family Setup feature for families to add and manage multiple Apple Watches in the family group from a single iPhone. This feature helps to share and track contacts and locations from other family members. It is better for parents to buy Watch SE for their kids as they can schedule Schooltime mode to limit certain features for their kids to stay focused.
Apple iPad Air
The new iPad was another main focus of the event. This new iPad Air features all-screen like the iPad Pro and comes with multiple color selections. It removes the home button and puts Touch ID in the top button. Similar to iPad Pro 11, the new iPad Air has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, and also has USB Type C and four speakers. The new iPad Air is powered by 5nm A14 Bionic processor which is 40% faster than the previous-generation. The new iPad Air starts at $599 and will be available in October.
The new iPad is refreshed eighth-generation and still uses the 10.2-inch Retina display and supports Apple Pencil. It is powered by the A12 Bionic chip which is the same as iPhone XS, and the processor is 40% faster than the previous generation. The new iPad starts at $329.
Apple Fitness+ & Apple One
With new launch of Apple Watch series, Apple came up with new Fitness+ service to provide world-class workouts including yoga, HIIT, core and strength. The Apple Watch will display the heart rate and calorie while using the Fitness+. You can also watch and use the Fitness+ service on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. The price of Fitness+ is $9.99 per month and $79.99 per year. Current Apple Watch owners can get free 1 month free and when you buy a new Apple Watch you will get three-month free trial.
Apple finally offering its bundle deals. Apple One offers deal for you to buy Apple bundle including Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade and extra iCloud Storage. And it comes in different tiers including Individual, Family and Premier option at different prices.
There is rumored that the iPhone 12 may be delayed due to COVID-19, but it might come out in the next event in October. After all, Google will launch new Pixel 5 at the end of September, Apple should not miss this opportunity to release new iPhone before the shopping carnival at the end of the year.
